Trevor Ward is a specialist consultant in the hospitality and leisure industries, and is the Principal of the W Hospitality Group with offices in the UK, Kenya, Nigeria and Angola.
He started his consultancy career in 1983, having previously completed a university degree in hotel management at the University of Surrey, and worked in management positions with De Vere Hotels and Ladbroke Hotels in the UK. From the late 1980s he has specialised in the provision of advisory services to clients in developing countries, and since 2003 has been based in Nigeria, advising clients there and throughout Africa.
His international experience includes advising clients on hotel and tourism development in more than 80 countries in Europe, North and South America, the Caribbean, Africa and Asia. With a special focus on sub-Saharan Africa, he is working with many of the international hotel groups who are seeking a presence their, from the oil-rich countries of the west to the tourism hotspots of the south and east. He is regarded as one of the foremost experts on the hotel industry in sub-Saharan Africa, and is engaged primarily in development consultancy ranging from investment appraisals to operator selection, owner’s representation and asset management.
In addition to his advisory work, Trevor is an active member of the Institute of Hospitality, for which he is their Ambassador for Africa, and of the International Society of Hospitality Consultants. He is also a member of Tourism Concern, the Royal Commonwealth Club and the Royal African Society.
Trevor is a regular speaker at industry conferences, and writes in various professional and Africa-focused journals, including the Hotel Yearbook.
Anne Iwu holds a Higher National Diploma in Hospitality Management from Wavecrest College of Hospitality in Lagos, Nigeria. She is an Associate Member of the Institute of Hospitality UK and holds the Advanced Diploma in Management for the Hospitality and Tourism Industry from the same Institute.
Before joining W Hospitality Group in 2016, she worked in several operational and administrative roles in the hotel industry including Food and Beverage, Rooms Division, Executive Office and Human Resources. Anne was coordinator under the Rooms Division Director at the preopening of InterContinental Hotel Lagos from 2012 - 2014. Her major responsibility involved snagging all 358 hotel rooms and seven hotel outlets. Her role was to ensure that all defects were identified and rectified by the contractors before the official handover date.
Belinda Nwosu FIH, is the lead consultant for Human Capital Development Services at W Hospitality Group. She received her BSc in Mathematics and Statistics from University of Lagos, a BSc in Hospitality Management from Manchester Metropolitan University, and an MA in Hospitality Management from the University of West London. She is currently a doctoral student at University of Southampton Business School. Her research interest lies in the interplay of culture and quality outcomes in international hotel brands in emerging economies.
Belinda is a well-respected professional with over 14 years’ experience as a lecturer and academic administrator at Wavecrest College of Hospitality, a leading hospitality institution in Nigeria. Her experience with human capital development includes needs analysis, resource deployment and operations training for several organisations in the hotel, foodservice, not-for-profit and public sectors.
She is a Fellow of the Institute of Hospitality (UK), and the Area Consultant (West Africa) of EuroCHRIE, the official federation for Europe, the Mediterranean Basin and Africa of the International Council for Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Education. In addition, she recently qualified as a Certified Hotel Industry Analyst with STR Global.
Ilobekeme Odiase is an experienced management consultant with over 10 years’ industry experience including a Masters’ degree in Management from the Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen.
Ilo joined W Hospitality Group in 2013 where she works on the preparation of market and financial feasibility studies for proposed hotels, convention centres and mixed-use developments in Abuja, Accra, Banjul, Kigali, Lagos and other sub-Saharan markets.
Her professional experience covers real estate and workplace services management, from working with SAP and Hewlett Packard in various capacities. Ilo is a member of the Chartered Management Institute, UK and loves to read in her spare time.
Lola Udabor is a hospitality professional with over ten years’ experience in the industry, including a Masters in International Hospitality Management from the University of Derby.
She joined W Hospitality Group in 2013, working on the preparation of market and financial feasibility studies for proposed hotels in Lagos, Abuja, Accra and other sub-Saharan markets.
Her industry experience covers hotel operations and management, from working at Radisson Blu Anchorage Hotel, Eko Hotel & Suites and The Bingham Hotel in the UK.
She is a member of the Institute of Hospitality and was part of the team that helped re-establish the institute’s Nigerian chapter.
